14th Children's and Youth Drawing Contest

Bases

a) The drawings must express the relationship and impact of humans on our ocean. The artwork must address at least ONE of the following FIVE themes: climate change, overfishing, plastic pollution, invasive species, or conservation of the vaquita (Phocoena sinus). The drawing must show both the problem and solutions.

b) Drawings may be submitted physically, sent by email, or uploaded directly to the form at the end of these guidelines. Physical drawings must be double letter size (27.9 cm × 43.2 cm) in landscape format. Drawings submitted electronically must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi; drawings that do not meet these requirements will not be considered. All techniques and materials are accepted except for digital drawings or those generated by artificial intelligence.

c) When submitting the drawing, the following information must be included, either on the back of the drawings submitted physically, in the body of the email, or when filling out the form:

1. Title of the work

2. Full name of the author, age, and city of residence.

3. Name of the author's school and grade level.

4. Name of parent or guardian.

5. Telephone number and email address.

1. Categories:

There will be three main categories: (1) contestants from Quintana Roo, (2) contestants from the rest of Mexico, and (3) international contestants.


1.1 Quintana Roo Category:

All children and young people enrolled in any elementary, middle, high school, or preparatory school, whether public or private, in the state of Quintana Roo are eligible to participate. Since the jury for this competition is independent of Delphinus, the children of Delphinus employees may also participate.


1.1.1 There will be 4 subcategories in this category:

i. Lower Elementary (1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade)

ii. Upper Elementary (4th, 5th, and 6th grade)

iii. Middle School (1st through 3rd grade)

iv. High School or Preparatory School

1.2 National Category:

All children and young people enrolled in any elementary, middle, high school, or preparatory school, whether public or private, in the Republic of Mexico are eligible to participate, with the exception of those residing in the state of Quintana Roo.

1.2.1 There will be 4 subcategories in this category.

i. Lower Elementary (1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade)

ii. Upper Elementary (4th, 5th, and 6th grade)

iii. Middle School (1st through 3rd grade)

iv. Preparatory School or High School

1.3 International Category:

All children and young people aged 6 to 18 who live outside of Mexico are eligible to participate.

1.3.1 There will be 4 subcategories in this category.

i. 6 to 9 years old

ii. 10 to 12 years old

iii. 13 to 15 years old

iv. 16 to 18 years old

2 Prizes:
2.1 Quintana Roo Category:

The top three places in each subcategory will receive prizes:

 

First Place: A bicycle, four PRIMAX dolphin encounters, and four tickets to one of the Grupo Xcaret parks.

Second Place: One PRIMAX dolphin encounter for two people at the Cancun Interactive Aquarium, Delphinus Puerto Morelos, or Delphinus Riviera Maya, and one double ticket to one of the Grupo Xcaret parks.

Third Place: One HARMONY dolphin encounter for two people at Delphinus Riviera Maya or the Cancun Interactive Aquarium.

The Delphinus dolphin encounter certificates and Grupo Xcaret park tickets are subject to date and availability restrictions.


2.2 National Category:

There will be three winners in each subcategory:

2.2.1 First, second, and third place in each subcategory. A Delphinus merchandise package, a commemorative medal, and a certificate of participation will be sent via courier.


2.3 International Category:

There will be 3 winners in each subcategory.

2.3.1 First, second, and third place in each subcategory. A commemorative medal and a certificate of participation will be sent via courier.


2.4 Winners of the trip to Cancun.

Additionally, two national winners will be selected (one elementary school winner and one middle/high school winner) and two international winners (one winner aged 6-12 and one aged 13-18):


2.4.1 National Winners: A trip for two to Cancun (winner and one adult, either a parent or guardian). Includes two round-trip airline tickets, arriving, from Mexico City, Guadalajara, or Monterrey, as convenient for the winner; four nights at an all-inclusive hotel; one double interaction with PRIMAX dolphins at a Delphinus habitat; and local transportation in Cancún (airport, award ceremony, hotel, and dolphin interaction, if necessary).

2.4.2 International Winners: A trip for two people to Cancún (the winner and one adult parent or guardian) includes two round-trip airline tickets, up to US$600 per person, . The round trip will depart from the capital city airport of your country, or the airport with the highest traffic of international flights, and return. If the winner is not in their country's capital, they will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the corresponding airport. The prize also includes four nights at an all-inclusive hotel, a double interaction with PRIMAX dolphins at a Delphinus habitat, and local transportation in Cancún (airport, award ceremony, hotel, and dolphin interaction, if needed).

2.5 Awards:

The winners of all categories will be announced in a live broadcast on the official social media channels of the Oceans Festival. The four winners of the trip to Cancun will be notified in advance so they can attend the event.

Prizes are not exchangeable for cash, other activities, or other forms of compensation. If the winners of the trip to Cancun are unable to travel on the stipulated dates, the prize will be forfeited without liability for the organizers.


3. Submission of Entries:

3.1. Entries may be sent to the email address concursos@festivaldelosoceanos.org.mx or attached to the form at the end of these guidelines. They must be scanned or photographed in print quality (the image must have a resolution of at least 300 dpi). The body of the email must include the information mentioned in section “c” of these guidelines.

3.2. Entries may also be submitted or delivered physically to Av. Nader Mz 1, Lt 28, SM 2, in downtown Cancún, CP. 77500, Cancún, Quintana Roo, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Drawings submitted or delivered physically to this location must include on the back the information mentioned in section “c” of the rules.

3.3. All entries, both physical and electronic, will be accepted from the date of publication of this call for entries until Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (GMT-5) via email, or until 6:00 p.m. (GMT-5) on Friday, March 27, in the case of physically delivered drawings. Drawings received after this date will not be considered for the contest.

 

4. Jury and Participation

4.1 The jury will be composed of visual artists, environmental educators, and media personalities from Cancún, Quintana Roo. Delphinus staff will not be involved in selecting the winners. The jury's decision will be final.


4.2 This is a contest conducted in good faith. For all disputes and matters not expressly addressed in these rules, Delphinus, through its executives, reserves the right to make the necessary decisions to resolve any situation.


4.3 Participation in this contest constitutes acceptance of these rules. The parents or guardians of participating children agree that Delphinus (Operadora Xuná SA de CV) or affiliated companies may use the drawings for publication, printing (with or without profit), transmission, and retransmission by any means of communication, whether currently known or yet to be developed, and that none of these uses will involve any economic or other compensation, present or future.
